Engineer at Royston Technology Firm wins Second Cambridge Regional College Award - Endorses Firm’s Commitment to Supporting Staff’s Aspirations in Engineering
Sartorius Stedim Biotech (SSB) is delighted to announce that Louise Carroll, a Commissioning Engineer at its Royston site has won an “Endeavour Award” for Higher Education from the Faculty of Science, IT and Engineering at Cambridge Regional College. This award, further endorses Sartorius in Royston as an excellent technology employer that values its staff and encourages them to achieve their full engineering potential.
The “Endeavour Award” was presented to Louise in recognition of the high standard of work she achieved during the first year of her HNC Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. This is the second award for Louise, having previously won the “BTEC Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Level 3, Best Overall Learner of the Year” award, during her three-year apprenticeship at Sartorius.
Louise, who currently works as a Commissioning Engineer at Sartorius, has been fully-funded to study one-day per week for an HNC Diploma in Mechanical Engineering at Cambridge Regional College. She has also received ongoing mentoring from Sartorius’ experienced engineers and Louise is now herself helping to mentor the firm’s new intake of apprentices.
According to Louise’s Course Tutor at Cambridge Regional College, Louise was presented the “Endeavour Award” because she is a motivated student, who is a highly valued member of the HNC group and has managed the transition from BTEC to the HNC Diploma well.
Louise Carroll stated: “I am delighted to be given the “Endeavor Award” as it is nice to know that hard work is recognised. When I came to Sartorius five years ago as a manufacturing technician I was 23 and never imagined I would be able to become an engineer because I thought I had missed the boat with education. The company has been so supportive and this has allowed me to get the training I need and I think more women should look at engineering as it’s a great career.”
Dominic Bushnell, Head of Manufacturing at Sartorius in Royston commented: “We’re proud of Louise’s awards because they show her outstanding commitment to becoming a trained engineer. We’re enthusiastic about supporting our staff to achieve their engineering potential and believe this contributes to our company’s supportive culture and ongoing commercial success.”
